WASHER MAINTENANCE

A monthly washer checklist that takes about 10 minutes.

Small, regular checks can catch residue, moisture, and early leaks before they become a bigger laundry-day problem.

1. Look for drips and dampness

Check the floor, supply-hose connections, drain hose, and the area around the door or lid. A new damp spot is worth addressing early, even if the washer still runs normally.

2. Wipe the places that trap moisture

Wipe the door gasket, detergent drawer, and drum edge. Remove lint or residue you can reach easily. Leave the door or lid slightly open after laundry so the interior can dry.

3. Check detergent habits

If you see extra suds, film, or a musty smell, reduce the amount of detergent next time and use the product recommended for your washer. More detergent is not automatically better.

4. Run a cleaning cycle when needed

Follow your manufacturer instructions for a washer-clean cycle and approved cleaner. Regular cleaning is especially useful for high-efficiency and front-load models.

5. Notice new sounds or cycle changes

Write down a new noise, vibration, long drain time, or repeated error message. A clear symptom makes a future diagnosis much easier.
